On Sunday, September 1, 2019, Christopher Kam Ming Fok, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 71.
Christopher was born on October 19, 1947, in Hong Kong to Kam and Kam Ho (Sin) Fok. On October 28, 1973, he married Rosa Theen Sin Yong. They raised two sons, Anthony and Gregory, and came to Canada in 1990.
Christopher was a dedicated worker and a faithful friend. He had worked at many jobs, e.g. apprentice shipbuilder, casino worker, general secretary, etc., but his favourite was helping with the Hong Kong Team behind the scene, travelling with them to Olympic Games all around the world.
He loves reciting prose and songs from plays and musicals. He is also an avid photographer.
Christopher loved his family, and was especially diligent to his mother.
In the final years of his life, he was struggling to survive with imminent heart failure, and yet he always maintained a positive outlook.
Thanks to the medical teams in Hong Kong and in Edmonton, he had a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) installed in December 2017 to helped his heart, and he was able to remain active and cheerful, and he lived his life to his fullest.
Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Kam, and his mother, Kam Ho. He is survived by his wife Rosa, his two children, Anthony and Gregory, his elder sister Cheung Che, elder brother Kam To, elder sister Mo Ping, younger brothers Yiu Wah Berie and Wai Hung Sydney, younger sister Maureen, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Prayer Vigil will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home (10011 114 St NW) at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Mary Help of Christians (Chinese) Catholic Parish (10140 119 St NW) at 1:00 p.m.
