1928-2019
Carl Eugene Bancroft – age 91, of Kentville, passed away on
Monday, September 16, 2019 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late John William and Myrtle
Elaine (Ritchie) Bancroft. Carl was employed with the Dominion
Atlantic Railway for several years. Following in his
father’s footsteps, he was trained in telegraphy and served
as Station Agent in many DAR train stations, becoming the permanent
agent in Yarmouth. He retired as Mobile Supervisor for the area. He is
survived by his wife, Florence “Flo” (Auton)
(Steele) (Thomas) Bancroft; sons, Gregory, Sunken Lake; George,
Calgary; stepchildren, Joy (Calvin) Tupper, Scott’s Bay;
Sonia (Peter) Eagar, Canaan; Brian Steele, Kentville; son-in-law,
Shawn Ramey, Upper Sackville; sister, Anna Elaine Hiebert, Modesto,
CA; a number of grandchildren, step-grandchildren
and step-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife,
Phyllis (Woolaver); daughter, Heather Ramey and cousin, Cecil
Atkinson. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service, followed by
a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September, 22, 2019, in
the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend John Andrew
officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam
Mill. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made
to the Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Lung Association or a
charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to
the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
