Bruce Turcott

Bruce’s story began on February 17, 1944, as the son of the late Walter and Florence Turcott. Born and raised in the Kearns and Virginiatown area, Bruce settled in Virginiatown with his wife Dorothy of 52 years and raised his children Raymond and Karen there. A quick onset of Alzheimer’s disease forced Bruce to leave his home earlier this year for the care he needed.
Although this disease took so much of him away from us, Bruce managed to know and recognize the love of his life Dorothy and Daddy’s little girl Karen right to the end.
Bruce was a wonderful man who was tremendously loved, is forever missed and will always be cherished.
Bruce worked for many years in the mill at the Kerr Addison Mine and then later with the McGarry Township Works Department until his retirement. Bruce also served proudly as a volunteer firefighter With the McGarry Fire Department for over 40 years.
Bruce loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, loved his Montreal Canadiens and his Toronto Blue Jays. He could always be counted on for a clever little rhyme, an off colour song or a good natured insult when it was needed.
Predeceased by his parents and his son Raymond, Bruce is deeply missed by his wife Dorothy, Daughter Karen Armstrong (Jim Fox) of Sesekinika, brothers Earl (late Mary) of Little Britain, Lloyd (Lillian) of Kirkland Lake and Brian (Cindy) of King Kirkland. Bruce will also be remembered by his brothers in law Vern Hart (Linda) of Elora, Lloyd Hart (Patricia) of Kirkland Lake as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bruce took great pride in his grandchildren Thomas Armstrong and Amanda Turcott and step-grandchildren Ella and Jude Fox. There is no denying that when his grandson Thomas was born in 2004, he was truly his whole world, his heart and his joy. Thomas was Bruce’s “Bud” and Bruce became Thomas’s “Pucka”. They may have been separated by generations but they were still each other’s best friends.
Bruce will be missed by all who knew him. Safe journey Bruce. Until we meet again.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Bruce’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
