Brett Matthew McCormick

It is with tremendous sadness and heavy hearts the family of Brett Matthew McCormick announces his passing which occurred unexpectedly and very suddenly on Sunday September 22, 2019.Brett was born in Saint John, NB on January 8th, 1988. He grew up in the Kennebecasis Valley, where he attended Rothesay Netherwood School for grades 8 and 9; he later graduated from KVHS in 2006. After high school, Brett remained in the Saint John area where he worked as a Fork Lift Operator for a number of different companies- he had worked for Strescon the last few years.Brett loved being around people, he was always ‘kidding’ and teasing, he simply wanted to see people smile and hear their laughter; he loved to see children play and be happy, as Brett was huge child at heart. Brett loved to drive his car- anytime, anywhere, he was always offering to pick people up and drive them to wherever they needed to be. Brett’s true friends knew they could always count on him for a ride. He was passionate about hockey and held a season ticket to the Sea Dogs games for the last 7 years- the sounds inside Harbour Station made him feel warm, and made him feel like he belonged to a community. He also enjoyed travelling to stock car races at Speedway 660 in Geary and Petty Raceway in River Glade- he absolutely loved the sounds and sights of a race, and he frequently visited his favorite racing team in the race pits. Brett loved going to the movie theater, and at home he watched a lot of movies and tv series, his favorite was the ‘Big Bang Theory’. He always got excited looking forward to special family gatherings, dinners and the holidays- Brett loved spending time surrounded by his entire family, especially his grandparents. Those who knew Brett understood that he was always trying to please others- he was always looking to make new friends, whether it was at the places he worked or new faces at Harbour Station, Brett would talk to everybody and was always sincere in earning and giving friendship.
He will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him- he was a special, loving soul. Brett is survived by his loving parents Karen (Buck) and Glen Stewart of Rothesay; siblings Michael (Laura) of Saint John and Molly (Mike) of Halifax; loving grandparents Marilyn and Denton Buck; aunts and uncles Gary Buck (Kim), Cheryl Smith (Ian), Gary Stewart (Kim), Greg Stewart (Sabrina) and Kelly Stewart; cousins Cameron, Craig, Cailey, Connor, Courtney, Adam, Jack and Luke; and cherished friends.
