Obituary of Brenda Powers
Brenda was born on December 7, 1954 to her parents, Alma and Brian Powers. She was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church, with her cousins Brian and Loverna Dill as godparents. She attended Rosemont School from Kindergarten through Grade 8. Brenda was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in 1968. She attended Luther College High School, graduating in 1972. After high school, she attended the University of Regina, where she completed the requirements for her teaching certificate. Brenda worked as a substitute teacher for many years.
She was a devout Christian, and a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church. Like her parents, she was actively involved in the church. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for much of her adult life, and was the Sunday School superintendent for many years. Brenda’s parents, and her extended family, were very important to her. With many of her relatives living in Regina, family visits and get-togethers were a big part of her life, as were visits from out-of-town relatives. She also took some out-of-province trips with her parents to visit relatives and take part in family reunions. During the last few years of her life, Brenda faced some serious health challenges, but this never diminished her faith, or her wonderful sense of humour. Brenda passed away on September 14, 2019. She was predeceased by her parents, Alma and Brian Powers. She is survived by numerous cousins and their families on both her mother’s and father’s side, and by many friends. She will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1037 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brenda’s memory may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association.
