Bowhey, Hilda Jean
Born in Euphrasia Township on September 27, 1930, a daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (nee Black) French, Hilda was proud to be a lifelong resident of the Beaver Valley. She passed away at Errinrung Long Term Care in Thornbury on Monday September 16, 2019 at the age of 88.
She is fondly remembered by her daughter Debbie (late Michael) Smith and was predeceased by her son Robert Bowhey and daughter Denise Ruthven.
She will be missed as a loved grandma by Tiah-Katelynne Smith of Thornbury, Nathan Smith (Teng Teng) of Beijing, and Josh Smith (Melissa) of San Diego and by Michelle (Alex) Lionetti, Melanie Ruthven (Tim Robertson), and Amanda Ruthven (Ian Park) and will be remembered also by her son-in-law John Ruthven of Clarksburg.
Hilda was predeceased also by Leith Bowhey in January 2008.
She is survived by a sister Pat Harker of Kincardine and a brother Doug French of Cambridge and sister Betty Baker of Barrie predeceased Hilda. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Doug Baker and will be recalled as a special aunt by their families.
Hilda will be recalled by many in the community for the affection she had for children and she cared for many. She enjoyed baking and sharing her talents with others. Hilda was always ready for a good game of cards, preferably Bid Euchre, and she dearly cared for not only her own pets but also for all animals.
A service of committal and interment of Hilda’s cremated remains will take place at a later date.
