Obituary of Betty Agnes Mary Long
Betty Agnes Mary Long, 88, with heavy hearts and loving memories, passed away on September 23, 2019. Born in Western Shore, Nova Scotia, She was the daughter of the late Bruce and Viola (McDow) Swinimer.
Betty was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all.
Betty was a loving mother and nurturing soul to all, with a wonderful sense of humor and strong contagious positive spirit. She was also and avid walker and lover of nature and children. She also filled her days with being an Avon Representative, Girl Guide Leader and President of the Korean Veteran Ladies Auxillary in Kentville.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Murray Long; daughters Mary Ellen (Miles) Reeves, New Ross and Angela Webber, New Ross; son Danny (Sharon) Long, Western Shore; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; brother Leo (Avis), New Ross; sister Marie Schlais, California, USA; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her daughters Joycelyn and Linda; son Murray, Jr; granddaughter Jennifer; great-granddaughters Keionna and Khiezha; brothers Otis, Murray and Jerome; sisters Joyce and Goldie.
Special Thanks to Dr. Targett and staff at Orchard Court, Kentville and Dr. Margaret Keating, mom’s oncologist at V.G. Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the New Ross Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the charity that gives you joy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home New Ross Funeral Chapel, 4935 Hwy #12, New Ross, B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961).
