It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bernard H. Morash, husband, father, grandfather and friend, Tuesday September 17, 2019 at home peacefully surrounded by his family after his short and courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 3, 1938 in downtown Dartmouth, the youngest of the 4 children of Harold & Gladys Morash. Bernie grew up in Dartmouth and has always lived & worked in Dartmouth.
At an early age Bernie became involved with the Kiwanis Club of Dartmouth and recently celebrated 50 years of service. While in Kiwanis Bernie held every position and chaired many commitiees as well as holding both Distinguished President and Distinguished Lt. Governor positions. Kiwanis allowed Bernie the opportunity to travel the world, making many life long friends all over.
Bernie worked with London Life Insurance for 22 years and held various positions with the company. In 1980 Bernie decided to open his own general Insurance business so with his wife Eleanor they formed Bernard H. Morash Agencies Ltd. In 2002 Bernard H. Morash Agencies became part of the MacLeod Lorway Insurance family & continues to operate today under this name.
Bernie & Eleanor semi retired from their business to pursue their dream of travelling in their motorhome with their fur babies. They are blessed to have made many close friends over the years through their motorhome adventures. Bernie & Eleanor organized and started the Newmar Kountry Klub chapters for Nova Scotia (Nova Scotia Mayflowers) and New Brunswick (New Brunswick Aurium Kountry Travelers). They have also been member of the Scotia Roamers Motor Home Club (Family Motor coach group).
Bernie is survived by his wife Eleanor of 60 years, 2 children, Dawn Wambolt (Donald), Douglas Morash (Wendy Scudder), and grandchildren Amy Holland (Alaina Boyd), Shelby Wambolt and Dawn Logan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Dartmouth Funeral Home and cremation has taken place. On line condolences can be made by visiting www.dartmouthfuneralhome.ca In keeping with Bernie’s wishes there will be no funeral service and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers Donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the VON and the Palliative care team from the QEII as well as the kindness shown by all the doctors and support staff at the cancer care enter in Halifax. The thoughtfulness and compassion shown by friends & family has been invaluable.
