Obituary of Barb Nelmes
March 28, 1957 – September 8, 2019
The family of Barb Nelmes is saddened to announce her passing in Grande Prairie, AB on September 8th, 2019 at the age of 62.
Barb was born in Abbotsford, BC, the youngest of five children and grew up in the small community of Straiton, located on Sumas Mountain. After graduating high school she attended the Fairview College Animal Health Technology Program and while there she fell in love with the Peace Country and decided to make Grande Prairie her permanent home. There she met the love of her life, Ken Crocker and his two beautiful girls whom she considered her own. She loved the many trips made with Ken to northern B.C., Yukon and NWT. She also loved to play games, especially with her grandkids, and was an avid reader. Barb’s kindness and sense of humour will be missed by her numerous family and friends.
Barb will be forever in the hearts of her husband Ken Crocker, daughters Jody (Harold) Fowler, Mandy (Scott) Schroeder, grandchildren Dallas (Shelby) Fowler, Kegan Schroeder, Zach Zajac, Mack Zajac, Kaelyn Fowler, Lainey Schroeder, Emma Zajac, great grandson Chet Fowler, siblings Bob (Marlene) Nelmes, Pat (Greg) Ouellet, Bonnie Barber, nieces and nephews Tracie (Brad) Lawrence, Brent (Laura) Hamm, Tammy (Luke) Compton, Tim (Lola) Nelmes, Tina (Neal) Tischer, David (Dawn) Nelmes, Sarah (Scott) Broman, Kylie (Jordan) Gerwatoski and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Mildred Nelmes, her nephew Jason Ouellet, as well as her brother John Jr. Nelmes.
A celebration of Barb’s life will be held on Wednesday September 18th, 2019 at Bear Creek Funeral Home/Richmond Reception Centre at 2pm.
Memorial donations may be made in Barbs name to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute at www.universityhospitalfoundation.ab.ca/ or a charity of one’s choice.
