Alister Morris Blair

Alister Morris Blair
October 10, 1958 – September 18, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alister Blair on September 18, 2019 at the age of 60. He leaves behind his three children, Caleb, Kelsey and Emily Blair. As well as his sisters, Verona Huff, Yvonne Van Boxtel and his step-mother Janet Blair. Alister was predeceased by his mother Gladys and father Collin Blair.
Alister was born in Auckland, New Zealand to missionary parents October 10, 1958, with his twin sister, Verona. After his birth, Alister’s parents returned to Lahore, Pakistan. Because Alister’s parents served as missionaries his family moved around a lot, going to various locations such as Calcutta, Delhi, Mussoorie in India, Streetsville, Ontario, Canada and Kabul, Afghanistan. Alister had precious memories growing up in his beloved school Woodstock in Mussoorie, India. After graduating from Woodstock in 1977, Alister came to Canada and has lived here ever since.
Alister moved to British Columbia to work for the railway. He was a dedicated worker for BC Rail, CN Rail and Railserve as a trainman and conductor. British Columbia was Alister’s favorite province in Canada so it was hard for him to move to Alberta, however, he loved living closer to his kids.
Alister treasured the outdoors and he loved biking and hiking. If he was outdoors, he was happy. Alister enjoyed eating and cooking Indian cuisine as well as reading and watching mysteries. He devoted much time to tinkering and developing his gadgets and technology. Alister was very good at puzzles and I think that’s why he loved Ikea furniture so much.
Alister suffered from aphasia due to a stroke he had at the end of January 2019 that he was recovering from. This took some of his short-term memory and made it very difficult for him to communicate. Though at this time we grieve, Alister is in a better place. We believe Alister had been saved through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and thus Alister is with Jesus at this time. He is able to speak again and we rejoice in that. Alister no longer has to struggle or feel any pain. He is no longer searching but now has everything he will ever need. I thank God for humbling Himself so we can live beyond this earthly life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm (time) on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Connelly-McKinley Edmonton South Funeral Home, 4820 Meridian Street NW, Edmonton. (To get to Connelly-McKinley Edmonton South Funeral Chapel, go to 17th street and 76 avenue. Head east along 76 avenue which turns into Meridian Street and follow it to the end of the road. Turn right into Our Lady of Peace Cemetery and the funeral home is at the back on the west end of the cemetery.)
