Obituary of Adele Schlatman
SCHLATMAN, ADELE PAULINE
Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital, after a short illness, and surrounded by her loving family, on September 22, 2019, Adele Schlatman, in her 96th year. Adele was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Hugh Sr. (2008) and her oldest son Allan (2010). Adele is survived by her children, Terry Van Wyck (late Brian), Mary Ann Squance (late Wayne), Janice Schenk (Bill), Hugh Jr (Linda), Joan Firth (Gary), Roger (Sandra) and Gwen Borthwick (Dan). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. She will be especially missed by granddaughter Stacy, with whom she shared a special bond. Adele also leaves behind her feline companion, Blackie, who gave her much love and joy. Friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue on Wednesday evening, September 25th, from 6-9 p.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Parish, 9 Waverly Street, Brantford on Thursday September 26th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. Adele will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Adele’s name to the Brant County SPCA, The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted in the memory of Adele in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
