Addolorata (Dora) Ventresca
January 23, 1931 – September 8, 2019
With sadness and heavy hearts we said goodbye to Dora, our loving mother, nonna, sister, aunt and friend, on Sunday, September 8, 2019 in her 89th year. She entered peacefully into eternal rest following a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her loving husband, Panfilo (Benny).
Survived by adoring daughters Ersilia DiNardo (Gabriel), Floriana Seccombe and Anna Ventresca (late David Tutty), treasured grandsons Evan (Darcy), Julian (Brooke), Alexander, Matthew and Aidan. Also survived by her siblings Salvatore (Matilda), Santa (Attilio), Filomena (late Alberto), Giovanni (Isabella) and Pasqua (Sante), and many nieces and nephews, all of Sulmona, Italy. Predeceased by her parents Gaetano and Anna, father-in-law, Antonio and mother-in-law, Ersilia, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Andrea and Antonina, and Flaminio and Liberata, all of Sulmona, Italy. Dora, who had many hobbies was a talented seamstress and exceptional cook and baker. She found joy in preparing delicious meals for her family, always with plenty of leftovers, and kept a constant supply of pizzelle and biscotti. Dora and Benny shared a passion for music, especially opera. She was devoted to her faith, from which she drew strength. Dora was very warm and inviting, enjoying the company of an extensive group of family and friends. She made everyone feel loved and special. She had a great capacity to relay stories and remember the details of her life from many decades ago. These stories are gifts that will be treasured. Dora’s greatest joy was her family to whom she was greatly devoted. Her love and support knew no bounds, and she always did everything she could for them. She was a loving wife and mother, and a proud nonna who cherished spending time with her grandsons. Dora will be remembered for her gracious nature, as well as her strength, generosity and thoughtfulness. We would like to thank the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital, Ward 3 East for their exceptional care and for all they did to keep Dora comfortable during her final weeks. Special thanks to Dr. Hiliis and staff of the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Hospital. Visitation will be at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St E, Hamilton, on Thursday, September 12, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. with Vigil prayers at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 20 Idlewood Ave, Hamilton, on Friday, September 13 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.
