Alda M. Jenkins
1916 – 2019
Alda Marie Jenkins, wife of the late Bernard Jenkins of the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home and formerly of Eel River, NB passed away at her residence on September 2, 2019 at the age of 102.
Born in Baie Ste Anne, NB, on October 4, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Camille and Louise (Boudreau) Arsenault. Before Alda was married she moved to Montreal and worked at the Munish Factory, loading bullets during the war before moving back to Eel River in the early 1940’s. She was a homemaker and then became a School Teacher. She was a member of the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Escuminac and later St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Baie Ste Anne.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her four grandchildren: Robert, Paul, Michael and Cathy; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren and great great great great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Bernard Jenkins, one son Orville Jenkins, two brothers: Fred and John Arsenault and one infant sister.
Visitation will be held from Baie Ste Anne’s Slumber Room, Baie Ste Anne, NB on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 2-4 pm with Mass of Christian Burial to follow from St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Baie Ste Anne at 4 pm with Father John Keoughan as Celebrant. Interment will be held in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Cemetery, Escuminac following the Mass.
