Thora Maye Locke

Thora Maye Locke
1939-2019
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Thora Maye
(Lewis) Locke on September 25, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers
Hospital. Born on August 28, 1939 in Plaster Rock NB, she was the
daughter of the late Irvine and Muriel Lewis.
Thora moved to Fredericton as a teenager and worked as a
stenographer for the Department of Labour for several years, then
moved to Geary and focused on raising her daughter. She enjoyed
crosswords, puzzles, crocheting, hummingbirds and piling wood because
it was the one job where you could see the progress you had
made.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Heather Locke; her
brother-in-law, Eddie Locke (Gwen); her close sister-in-law, Linda
Nixon (Shirley); nieces, Penny Sue Linders (Rick), Cora Lee Pelletier,
Marnie Daigle and Karen Nixon; nephews, Timothy Steeves (Gail),
Jonathan Steeves (Ann), Richard Steeves (Sheri), Jason Nixon (Trina)
and Troy Nixon. She will also be dearly missed by lifelong
friends, Shirley Estabrooks, Patricia Earl, Charlotte Sheppard and
Verna Shaw.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the love
of her life, Daniel “Danny” Locke; as well as all of her
siblings, Erva Steeves, Shirley Lewis, Peter Lewis and Judith
Campbell.
A graveside service will be held at the Geary, French Lake,
Waterville Cemetery at 12pm noon on October
6th, 2019, open to anyone that wishes to
attend. Memorial donations to Thora’s family to assist with
expenses would be greatly appreciated.
