Stephen Albert “Steve” Sweeney
1953-2019
Stephen Albert “Steve” Sweeney – age 65, of New
Minas, formally of Cape Forchu, Yarmouth, passed away on Thursday,
September 12, 2019, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Steve
was employed by Department of National Defense, Halifax, for 37 years,
a volunteer fireman for 23 years with Ostrea Lake Fire Department,
Musquodoboit Harbour and a past member of Glooscap Curling Club,
Kentville. He loved sports, the outdoors, golfing, was an avid Boston
Red Sox fan and duck hunter. He is survived by his wife, Heather
(Kennie); sons, Sean and Brent (Toronto), sisters and brothers, Cindy
(Vernon) Bustin, PEI; Miles (Deni), Waverly; Jennifer Tynes,
Dartmouth; Jeffrey (Rita), Prince George, BC; Stewart (Gert), Cape
Forchu; Richard (Diane), Bedford; Rebecca (Robert) Bekerian, Boston
USA; Blair (Dawn), PEI; mother-in-law, Donna Kennie, Kentville;
numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, Betty and
Andrew Sweeney, Cape Forchu, Yarmouth and niece, Sarah Bustin.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by
request. A celebration of Stephen’s life
will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in the White
Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Elizabeth Johnson
officiating. Interment will take place following the reception in the
Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only, by request.
Donations in memory may be made to Lung Association of Nova Scotia or
a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to
the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
