John Thomas, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2019, at the Peter D. Clark Centre. John was born in Newtongrange, Scotland, and was older brother to the late Margaret Bashall (2008) and Gordon Thomas. He was a loving husband to his late wife Johanna Thomas (2013) (nee Poley). Father to Nancy Hilker (Bradley) and Eric Thomas. Grandpa to Tristan, Cameron and Rosalind Hilker. John graduated from Durham University in electrical engineering. Over the years, John held positions with the Royal Navy (HMS Grenville), Sperry Gyroscope, Northern Electric, Hughes Aerospace, the European Space Agency, and Transport Canada. His pastimes included model ship building, woodworking, volunteering, traveling, and horticulture, and he also enjoyed the great outdoors. He was a true gentleman with a noble and kind spirit who was devoted to his family. Thank you to the management, staff, residents and friends of Peter D. Clark Centre, who were so kind and caring to John throughout his stay.
