James Augustus’ Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Jewer announce his passing on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the age of 85 years. He leaves to mourn the love of his life for 62 years, Jean Jewer (nee Howell); his three children: Jim (Christina), Tim (Sandra), and Karen (Greg Peckford); his sister Alice Kelly; his grandchildren: Melissa Roberts (Brad), Jimmy Jewer (Corina), Michael Lukeman (Walterine), Jennifer Jewer (Aaron White), Nicole Lewis (Jeff), and Emily; his seven precious great grandchildren: Madison, Jake, Claire, Gregory, Gabriel, Abigail, and Nicholas; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Kennedy, Glenda Langer (John), Brothers-in-law: Max Howell (Doris), Roy Howell (Pauline) and Ron Howell (Jean) and a large circle of other relatives and friends. James was predeceased by his father and mother: James and Eliza Jewer, baby sister Cavell, and brothers-in-law- Allan Kelly and Woodrow (Eileen) Howell. James was loved by all for his kind and gentle soul and the many stories of his 37 year career with the railroad. The family would like to acknowledge the many nurses and staff at Corner Brook Long Term Care and Mountain View House, Meadows, NL, for their kind and compassionate care in the past several years. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Michaels and All Angels Church, Park Drive, on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 11am with Rev. Roberta Woodman officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of NL.
