Lana Cheryl (Davidson) Ashby
1949-2019
Lana Cheryl (Davidson) Ashby – age 69, of
Newtonville, NS, passed away on September 5, 2019 at the Valley
Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville on November
22, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Clair and Laura (Coldwell)
Davidson. She grew up on Dabro Farm in the Gaspereau
Valley. Lana graduated from Acadia University in 1972 with a
B.A. and Diploma of Secretarial Science. In 1977 she, Terry
and children moved to Rankin Inlet, NWT where they lived among the
Inuit for six years, enjoying their culture and making many life-long
friends. Upon returning to Newtonville, Lana worked at the
Acadia University for 26 years, retiring from the staff of the Vaughan
Memorial Library in 2015. Lana was a member of the Gaspereau United
Baptist Church, Blomidon Naturalist Society and the Kings County
Museum. She was very involved as a member of the Burial
Grounds Care Society where she held the position of
Secretary/Treasurer. Many great projects and friendships
were encountered with this wonderful group of volunteers. Lana is
survived by her husband of 47 years, Terry; daughter, Tammi (Andrew)
Forsythe, Hammonds Plains; son, Darren (Kristina), Port Hardy, BC;
grandchildren, Owen and Paige Forsythe; brothers, Barry (Brenda)
Davidson, Black River Lake and Philip (Lisa) Davidson, Bishopville.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request.
A graveside service will be held at the Gaspereau Cemetery on Monday,
September 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating.
Donations may be made to the Gaspereau United Baptist Church, Valley
Regional Hospital or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements
have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville.
