1954-2019
Stephen Copp of Fort
Lawrence passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday,
July 30, 2019 at the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Moncton, on August 3, 1954, he
was the son of Robert and Inez (Crossman) Copp.
Stephen’s interests included
his church, cars and tinkering with anything mechanical or
electronic. He loved having morning coffee with his parents
and friends at McDonalds on Albion St. in Amherst. Stephen
was a member of the Amherst First Baptist Church. He worked
in the family business, the Hampton Diner for over 25 years.
After the closing of the Diner, he was employed at the restaurant in
the Wandlyn Inn, Amherst.
Stephen lived with Multiple Myeloma and
related kidney disease for the past 9 years and the family wishes to
thank Dr’s White and Finkle and their staff from the Departments of
Hematology and Nephrology at the QEII Health Sciences
Centre. As well, we would like to thank the EMS, doctors,
nurses and staff of the Emergency Dept. of the Halifax Infirmary and
the doctors, nurses and staff at the Cumberland Healthcare Centre for
their skill, caring and compassion.
In addition to his parents, Stephen is
survived by his brother Danny (Rhonda) of Fredericton, nieces, Heather
(Max Pollack) Copp and Trish (Andrew) Duguay, their mother, Betty
Daniels, step-niece Emily Thomas, and great-nieces and great-nephews,
Frida Pollack, Hannah Pollack, Grady Duguay and Blake Duguay
. Stephen is also survived by aunts, Eileen Alcorn of
Hillsborough, NB and Molly Crossman of St. John’s, NFLD, as well as
several cousins and special friend Laurie Mattatall.
Stephen was predeceased by his
grandparents, Harley and Muriel (Wilbur) Copp and Rev. Dr. Spurgeon
and Nettie (Tower) Crossman, by his nephew Robert David
“Robbie” Copp and uncles Sydney Alcorn, Murray Crossman and
Murray Justason.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church
St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). Visitation will take place
on Tuesday August 6, 2019 from noon until 2 pm with funeral
immediately following at First Baptist Church, Amherst, Rev. Dan Green
officiating. Burial will take place at the Fort Lawrence
Cemetery following the reception.
For those who wish, donations may be
made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Stephen’s
memory.
