Memorial Donation
The family of Sheila M. Byrne announce her peaceful passing, surrounded by her family, on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Kenny’s Pond Retirement Home, St. John’s, NL.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank Byrne of Corner Brook in 1963, granddaughter Sarah in 2014, parents Alphonsus and Mary Smith of Harbour Breton, and two brothers Samuel and William Smith. Leaving to mourn four daughters and one son: Anne-Marie Byrne (Chris Turpin), Bay Roberts, NL; Kathyrn Byrne-Shanahan (Gerard Shanahan), Calgary, AB; Maureen Byrne (Rod Black), Scotland; Denise Byrne-LaSaga (Todd LaSaga), Ottawa, ON and Michael F. Byrne (Karen Learning), Ottawa, ON. Sheila will be sadly missed by her five precious granddaughters: Jennah (James Canning) and Claire Turpin, Jessica Shanahan, and Kelsey and Emily Byrne; three great grandchildren- Rowan, Ellis and Grant Turpin-Russell. Also leaving to mourn are numerous nieces and nephews of the Smith and Byrne families, and a wide circle of friends. “Nurse Byrne” touched the lives of generations of families. May she rest in peace.
Visitation for family and friends will take place at Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville, on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will take place Friday, August 9, 2019 at 10 am from St. Stephen’s Parish, West St., Stephenville. Burial will take place at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Montgomerie St., Corner Brook.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Sheila’s memory can be made to Daffodil Place.
