It is with great sadness that the family of Richard David Oak announces his passing on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the age of 64 years. He passed peacefully with family at his side. He was predeceased by his father Johnny “Red” Oak and his grandmother Olga Phillips. Rick is survived by his mother Ann Marie Oak; brothers John Oak and Ken (Elaine) Oak; sisters Lisa Oak (Allan McDonald) and Diane Oak; six well loved nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
In Rick’s youth, he loved athletics and competition. When he became confined to a wheelchair, he didn’t skip a beat, competing fiercely both at home and internationally with Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Tennis, winning many awards and accolades. Rick had a kind and generous soul, a dazzling mind and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be sorely missed.
There will be a family graveside service followed by an open Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Moose Jaw Wildlife Centre, 1396 – 3rd Ave. NE, Moose Jaw, SK. Flowers are gratefully declined but your presence is welcomed.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Richard David Oak July 25th 2019..
