Rev Richard Libby

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rev. Richard Libby the evening of August 22nd, 2019 at Northwood Deaconess Nursing Home in Northwood, ND at the age of 75.
Richard was born on November 1, 1943 along with his twin sister Gail to Robert and Elizabeth Libby of Millsville, NJ.
Richard grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey where he trusted in Christ and was influenced as a teenager by Rev. Conant to serve the Lord in pastoral ministry. Following his calling Richard attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL where he met the love of his life Marilyn Rose Zaporzon. They married on July 1, 1967 and moved to Kansas City, KS to complete his Bachelor of Arts at Calvary Bible College. There they began ministry at Southwest Bible Church and started a family, having their son David.
In 1973 Richard was called to serve at Parkside Gospel Church in Dauphin, Manitoba where he began a career of serving the community for 30 years. During his time at Parkside both Maryanne and Ruth-Lynne were added to the family as Rev. Libby served as pastor and camp director over Dauphin Bible Camp. Through the years Rev. Libby served as chaplain at Dauphin Regional Health Center, Dauphin Personal Care Home and the Dauphin Correctional Center. He also served as interim pastor at Grace Baptist church and provided pulpit supply in the Parkland region, supporting the spread of the Gospel.
Richard had the firm conviction that the Bible alone has the answer to life’s greatest questions and his deep, steady faith could be clearly seen through his teaching and preaching. There was no question that Jesus Christ was the center of his life and he desired that others would experience this life-changing gift of salvation by faith alone in Christ alone.
After the death of his beloved Marilyn in 2001, Richard moved back to Kansas City in 2004. Besides his passion for Bible, Richard had a passion for baseball, especially the Kansas City Royals whom he finally saw win the world series in 2015. Sadly, the last five years of his life were marked by his fight with Parkinson’s as the disease stole his mobility but not his love for his Lord and Savior. He remained God’s man until the end.
Rev. Libby is survived by his son, David Libby of Winnipeg, MB, daughter Maryanne (Brian) Nacy of Puebla, Mexico, daughter Ruth-Lynne Libby of Winnipeg, MB, grandchildren Rebecca, Joshua and Andrew Nacy of Puebla, Mexico, brother Robert Libby Jr of Merchantvill, NJ, sister Gail (Arden) Geer of Trenton, NJ and nephews Jonathan and Joel Geer. He was predeceased by his loving wife Marilyn in January 2001, his father, Robert in 1997, and his mother Elizabeth in 1969.
A graveside service will be held for Rev. Libby Friday August 30th at 11 AM at Riverside Cemetery in Dauphin, MB followed by a memorial Service at 2 PM at Grace Bible Church in Dauphin, Manitoba.
