Obituary of Raymond G. “Ray” Gloin
GLOIN, Raymond G. “Ray” – Of St. Thomas, passed away at LHSC, Victoria Hospital on Thursday, August 29, 2019, in his 86th year. Beloved husband for 63 years to Shirley (née Woodward) Gloin. Dearly loved father of Norma Parker (Steve), Judy Walker (Bill), Ginny Gloin, and Norman Gloin. Cherished grandfather of Melissa, Anne, Martha, Olivia, Kade, Dennis, and Dominic. Ray was proud of his 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. His brothers, Lewis Gloin (late Jean) and Peter J. Gloin (Caroline), and his sister, Mary (née O’Malley) Shantz predeceased him. Born in St. Thomas, ON, July 15, 1934, he was the son of the late Herman and Norma (née Gilbert) Gloin. Ray was a former employee of V.M.E., St. Thomas and LifeLabs, London. He was a member of Central United Church, St. Thomas. The funeral service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Wednesday, September 4th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Tuesday evening, September 3rd from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorial donations to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
