Peter “Curly Top”‘s Obituary
LeBLANC, Peter Bernard “Curly Top” – age 77, Morris Island, Yarmouth Co., passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, August 16, 2019 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. He was born on May 30, 1942 on Morris Island and in his younger years Peter began working as an apple picker and subsequently made his living on the sea, having worked in the lobster and scallop fishing industries as well as in the Irish Moss industry. Peter also volunteered with the Islands and District Fire Department and was a member of the Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau Seniors Group. Peter’s passion was deer and duck hunting, and he also enjoyed music and socializing with his many old and new friends alike. He is survived by his loving children, Randy LeBlanc (Betty Harrington), Amirault’s Hill; Jessica LeBlanc (Bill LeBlanc), Amirault’s Hill and Yvette LeBlanc (Ricky Roberts), Surette’s Island; grandchildren, Jocelyn, Allison, Jenaya and Kayla; great grandchildren, Jackson, Dallas, Tessa, Matthew, Rylee and Easton, as well as by his close companion, Ethel Deveau. Also surviving is a special sister, Linda (Arthur) Jacquard, along with many half brothers and sisters. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his grandmother who raised him, Nellie LeBlanc, as well as by his loving wife of 48 years, Bernice A. (Hubbard) LeBlanc; a great granddaughter, MaCali Cormier, as well as siblings, Jimmy Surette, Yvonne Doucet and Paul Surette. In accordance with Peter’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 21 from Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Surette’s Island, Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund or to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
