1920-2019
Margaret Beneta Cross – age 99, passed away peacefully on
August 24, 2019 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Dartmouth, she
was the daughter of the late Edward Arnold Milbury and Augusta May
(Hurst) Milbury. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfred
(2014) and a brother, Perry (in infancy). Alfred and Margaret were
married in Woodside (Dartmouth) in 1942. Alfred was reassigned to
England with the RAF in 1943 and Margaret followed six months later in
a convoy from Halifax to England, where they remained until after the
war. They returned to Canada in 1947 and settled in Dartmouth where
they raised a family. Margaret was a church choir director and
organist in the Dartmouth area for many years. They moved to the
Annapolis Valley in 1970 and have resided there ever since. Margaret
enjoyed music, reading, needlepoint, and knitting. She is survived by
sons, Ronald (Karen), Dartmouth; Jim (Janet), New Minas;
grandchildren, Joseph (Rebekah), Little Britain, ON; Erika (Warren),
Port Joli; Jaclyn (Dan) Simpson, Burnaby, BC; Katelyn (Brandon) Diack,
Burnaby, BC; and great grandchildren Ethan and Brooke Simpson. The
family would like to thank the staff of the Wolfville Nursing Home for
the exceptional care and compassion given to Margaret. Cremation has
taken place and there will be no visitation, by family request. A
celebration of life, with reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Thursday, August 29, 2019, in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville, Reverend Shirley Cole officiating. Donations in memory may
be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
