Lornie Marshall Langley

Lornie Marshall Langley
1931-2019
Langley, Lornie Marshall Age 88, of Country Harbour,
Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2019, in
High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care. Born in Isaac’s
Harbour, he was a son of the late Chester and Lottie (Clyburne)
Langley. Being part of a large family during the late
1940’s, gramp left home as a teenager to work on the Great
Lakes for several years, to selflessly support his family. In the
50’s he returned home to work in both construction and
forestry, and met the love of his life ( Dode!), and shared 63
beautiful years of love and marriage. She would always say, ” if
I searched the whole world over, I would never have found a better
man.” It was evident that to give, to love, and to touch
people’s lives was the legacy gramp would leave
behind.
Gramp was an angel on earth as we are certain he is
in heaven. He lived
life so simply, and gave love to
everything he did and to everyone around
him. An old friend
once complimented gramp on the sweater he was
wearing,
gramp reaches over his head, removed the sweater and gave it to
his friend without a second thought. I believe the phrase
“he would give
you the shirt off his back” began
here! An unexpected early retirement,
allowed gramp to do
the things he loved, and most importantly to share his
time
so generously. He loved his family, his home, his camp, music,
hunting, fishing, good jokes, animals, nature and little
children. He exuded
kindness in sharing his interests and
created lasting connections with the
everyday gestures…..
he would rock a grand baby to sleep for hours, he
would
wade out to his neck to free a fishing hook for his boys, he
would
rescue a dog and find it a home, he’d sing
songs and tell stories that left
your heart smiling ,he was
so generously affectionate. You always felt a
better
version of yourself after spending time with him. Gramp left
this
world, leaving us all with the example to give the
best and most beautiful
parts of oneself. We will forever
miss your perfect love. Thank you for
showing us the way.
