DUFFUS-Lidia
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lidia Mary Duffus (Zuccolo) on July 26, 2019.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Lorraine (Laura); Nancy (Duane), Shauna, Ryan; Gordon (Linda), Sean (Rachel), Jackson; Marianne (Rolli), Brett and Madison.
Lidia will also be greatly missed by her brother Joseph (Nan) and her many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Fiorenzo & Gilda Zuccolo; her brothers Adelio and Elio and her husband Bill Duffus.
Lidia was born on July 10, 1928 and grew up in Trail on Austad Lane and later worked in the laundry department at the Trail Hospital. She also met her husband Bill in Trail and during their 55 years together, she and Bill were blessed with 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family.
Lidia loved to be around people and had a permanent smile on her face. She enjoyed many years of bowling, golfing and yearly trips to Reno and Spokane with the girls. Lidia could always be seen walking in Montrose, even into her 80’s.
Lidia moved to Mountain Side Village in 2013 and spent 6 glorious years there. This was a very happy time for her. In March of 2019 Lidia moved to Columbia View Lodge. A very big thank you to Dr. Neil and the wonderful staff at Columbia View Lodge who helped make Mom’s last few months bearable and the last couple of days as peaceful as possible.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11:00 am with Father Nino presiding. Reception will follow immediately at the St. Rita’s Catholic Parish in Fruitvale. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence by visiting the family’s register at www.myalternatives.ca
As an expression of sympathy donations in Lidia’s name may be made to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hosptial Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench Rd, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca
