LEONA JOYCE SAUMER

On August 11, 2019 Joyce Saumer, formerly of Onoway, passed away peacefully at Extendicare in Leduc in 91st year.
Joyce was always thoughtful, happy, and had a positive attitude during her long life and right to the end. She was an avid gardener, knitter, bird feeder, and amateur genealogist. She was happiest when hosting the extended family for a big meal and made the best roast beef dinner around.
The daughter of Eric and Daisy Baker, she leaves to cherish her memory sons Douglas (Jeanette), Howard (Peggy), Robin (Lois), daughter-in-law Carolyne, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband (William Jerome) Joe, of 57 years, and son Thomas.
Joyce’s family would like to especially thank the staff of the Chateau Lac Ste. Anne in Onoway for their years of care as well as the staff of Extendicare Leduc more recently. All these people are nothing short of angels in their constant care, friendliness, professionalism, and willingness to go far beyond the extra mile in providing Joyce’s care. Dr. Brilz has a well-earned reputation for his personal attention to his patients.
A Celebration of Joyce’s Life will take place at the Onoway Community Hall on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Chang Lee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation may do so to the Joe Saumer Memorial Music Scholarship Fund, c/o Onoway Music Parents’ Association, Bag 240, Onoway, AB T0E 1V0, or charity of one’s choice.
