LAUREL TURNER
January 10, 1925 – August 8, 2019
Laurel Joyce Turner [nee Lamb] 94 years old, died at peace and pain free with cancer on August 8, 2019. Laurel was born on January, 10, 1925 and was raised and resided in Sandwich, Ontario now part of Windsor Ontario. She moved to Tillsonburg in 1990 to be with family. In Windsor, Laurel was an active member and president of the ACW, chancel guild and a leader of the Junior and Girls Auxiliary groups at St. Mary’s Anglican Church. She was a scenic artist with the Windsor Light Musical Theatre. In Tillsonburg she was a dedicated member and president of St. John’s Anglican Church’s ACW. She has also run bible studies in both her house and during her time at The Tillsonburg Retirement Residence. She was head of front house for many years and a member of Theatre Tillsonburg since her arrival. She painted rocks on risers for the February 2019 show. She has, in her life been a beautician, sales person and volunteer. Laurel was blessed with an artistic gift, and honoured God with many works of art including the repaint of the saint’s faces, in stain glass windows in a Windsor Church. She also designed and executed six alter kneelers in Windsor and three in Tillsonburg. She shared her artistic gifts by teaching students in both towns and donating many paintings to worthy charities.
Laurel was the daughter of Meryl Wyles [b.Woodstock] and James H.T. Lamb [b Lindsay] She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ronald Frank Turner, son Robert Allen James Turner and grandson Ashley James Turner; her sisters Betty June Davison & Dale Marie Jarosch [all of Windsor]. She was the dear mother of, and is survived by, daughter Laurel Ann Beechey and husband Peter of Tillsonburg; Daughter-in-law Karen Turner of Arthur, with grandchildren Shawn Turner, Jennifer & Jessica Culp; Great-Grandson, Khari and an assortment of nieces and nephews. She was also a loving Foster Parent to several oversees children and many orphaned skunks. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 46 Ridout Street W.,Tillsonburg in September. A date to be selected by the family.
