January 09, 1943 – August 10, 2019
In loving memory of Larry Lichty who passed away August 10, 2019 with his family by his side at Princess Court. Larry is survived by his children Gina (David) Felske, Lisa (Jeff) Euler, the mother of his children, Carol Lichty, grandchildren Courtney Felske and Melissa (Mike) English, Cameron Euler and Travis Euler and great grandson Ritchie English. He is also survived by his siblings Allan Lichty, Norman Lichty, Wilma Kelterborn, Emmeline Rose and Helen Ariss and many numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his son Randal Lichty, parents Jacob and Mary Lichty, brothers Edward, Earl, Jake and Ken; sisters Freeda, Irene, Edith, Marie and Carol.
Larry was born January 9, 1943 in Millbank, Ontario. He was the second youngest of fifteen children. Larry was 16 when he moved to Dryden to find work. Here he met Carol Ostman who became his wife in 1964. They had 3 children. Larry moved his family to Calgary in 1968 and put himself through Carpentry school by working construction after hours. They moved back to Dryden in 1971 and bought the farm on Parker Road in 1972 where he lived until 2004. Larry worked hard to build a home for his family and barns for the animals. Larry enjoyed the home, gardening, camping and fishing with his family. Over the years family and friends were always welcome to come for supper or a drink, to share laughs, play cards or horseshoes. He was a very hard worker, often coming home after a long hot day of work in the sun to cut grass and maintain the home. Larry enjoyed his camp at Angood lake with family and friends. Many memories were made. He was very kind and generous, always willing to lend a helping hand. Larry always had a loving smile and positive attitude over the years even when things got tough.
As a carpenter, Larry worked for the Dryden Mill as construction foreman in the 80’s, plus various construction work for the City of Dryden and the Ministry over the years as well as building many homes in the area.
In 2005 Larry was diagnosed with dementia and moved into Princess Court in August 2013. He looked forward to the visits with his childhood friend, Keith Dechert who would come to visit him when in town. We would like to thank Nathalie Legros from Adult Mental Health and Barb Lindquist, CCAC for their guidance and support throughout the years before dad moved to Princess Court. We would also like to thank Dr. Moir, Ange Eddison and all the staff at Princess Court for their patience, smiling faces and care over the years.
A Memorial Funeral Service to Celebrate Larry’s life will be held Monday August 19th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Moffat Chapel of Stevens Funeral Homes with Pastor Velma Henderson officiating. Interment will be held in the Dryden Cemetery at a later date.
