Obituary for
Joseph Petruska
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Joseph Petruska.
Predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Mary and his late brother Dr. John Petruska of California.
He leaves behind his soulmate of 49 years, Diane. His son, Jerry and Kim Petruska and their children: Jordan Josh and Josie; his daughter, Kelly and Steven Weinstein and their children: Jack and Raquel, Sindy and Sylvan and their children: Ryan and Kyle; and his adoptive son: Gilbert and Cynthia Genier and their children: Mckayla and Brooke.
He was a true pioneer. He founded Jessel’s in 1970 and reinvented the north. He supplied many Inuit and native communities with fresh produce and frozen foods. Owning restaurants, gold mines, car dealerships, pop machines, and so many more interesting businesses, he finally settled on Total Street Maintenance. He loved life and always believed every day gets better, keep moving forward, what’s the worst that could happen? His favourite expression was “no problem”. He loved to tell jokes and make others laugh, he loved his men’s golf nights and going fishing and hunting. He cherished many people, too many to mention.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. As expression of sympathy, donations to the Hospital for Sick Children – Neurofibromatosis Unit would be greatly appreciated.
A true heartfelt thank you to all of those who showed their support in our time of need, we will never forget. Take solace that Joe lived his life his way. Until we meet again.
