Passed away peacefully at the Niagara Health System – St. Catharines Site Hospital on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the age of 97. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Bernice Ferguson (1975). Loving father of Janis Smith (Clifford), Nancy McCauley (John) and Eric Day (Debbie). Cherished grandfather of Bradley Smith, Dayna Smith, Dayle Feldman (Andrey), Kirsten Raymond (Aaron) and Craig Day (Laura). Great-grandfather of Nadia, Molly, Dylan and Sophia. Predeceased by his parents Alf and Blanch Day. Born and raised in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia where he was employed by the Cape Breton Coal Company. Charlie later moved to Grimsby, ON where he was employed for over 26 years with Stelco. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 6-9 p.m. Private family interment, Queen’s Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Canadian Wildlife Federation or the Salvation Army would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
