Johanna will be remembered for her generous and compassionate heart shown to people of all ages and walks of life. She loved to cradle a new grandchild, offer a kind and gentle word to a struggling mother, laugh along with young kids at the silly things in life, and especially loved to encourage and uplift her dear friends at Harbour Home. She modeled a sincerely grateful spirit, contentedly enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was picking the berries growing along a path, enjoying the birds outside her window, swimming in fresh and cool lake waters, basking in the sunshine or enjoying an evening walk with her beloved Allard. Johanna soaked up all the joy God gave her in life, wherever she found it. She was approachable because of her quiet, humble and friendly nature. Her attentive ears and caring heart were a safe place for so many, especially for the women at Blessings. Her faith and hope in her Saviour were evident even as she endured her life-ending trial, looking in peace, with curiosity, to her heavenly home. And now she has arrived “away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8).
The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Center and St. Peter’s Hospital.
