Jerry was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret Ibach; sister, Alma Ibach; brother, Albert Ibach; nieces, Michelle Bachmeier and Alixes Leeb (goddaughter); brother-in-law, Bill Neigel and sisters-in-law, Claire Ibach and Frances Ibach. Jerry will be dearly missed by his sisters and brothers, Justine (Bill) Neigel, Rosamarie (Alex) Leeb, Joe (Pauline) Ibach, Gwen (Albert) Ibach, George (Claire) Ibach, Shirley (Ken) Bachmeier, Ron (Linda) Ibach, Helen (Doug) Marshall, Bernadette (Ron) Maloney, Elizabeth (Gilles) Caron, Cabrini (Terry) Hurst, Teresa (George) Cone, Anne (Bill) Helfrich, Clarence (Marie) Ibach, and Colette (Don) Hall; as well as his nieces and nephews.
Jerry’s loves were God, his family and his students. Jerry was someone to whom you could go to if you had a concern, he would listen; it was about you. During the summer, Jerry enjoyed 20 years working at the Calgary Stampede. Jerry’s teaching career started in 1971 from Valleyview, to Fort Vermillion and then to St. Albert. In 1976 he moved to Calgary and taught High School Math at Chestermere High School and became Math Department Head. Jerry retired in 2007. At Chestermere, he coached basketball and volleyball and spent many off hours tutoring his students. He loved teaching and was very dedicated to his students.
After retirement, Jerry found his niche volunteering his time taking care of seniors and their needs. Jerry loved his family and in his own words said, “We are so blessed to be raised in a large, farm family. We had fantastic parents and the best brothers and sisters. What wealth!”.
