James Russell Kelly

Obituary of James Russell Kelly
85, Herring Cove. Passed away peacefully on August 26, 2019 in Melville Lodge Halifax.
Born in St. John New Brunswick, he was the son of the Late John Kelly and Annie Kelly (Stone). James grew up in Halifax to become a Land Surveyor and was employed with John E. McElmon for over 30 years until his retirement in the mid eighties.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and could tell many funny stories of times back the camp. He could play the harmonica without missing a beat. He loved a good joke and loved to laugh but most of all, he loved his family and time spent with them. He was the “perfect” father.
He will be sorely missed by his, sons, Michael (Debbie) Harrietsfield, Blair, Harrietsfield, Jim (Angie), Boutiliers Point; daughters, Donna Pelham (Danny), Herring Cove; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Greely, Theresa Kelly both of Halifax. Several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Myrtle (Clark); daughter Susan; sister, Patricia (LeFaive); brother, John; granddaughter Deanna.
He will be fondly remembered for his gentle, kind and patient spirit. Fly High Dad…We take rest in knowing you’re with Mama and sitting along side of Waylon and The Boys!
Special thanks to the staff at Melville lodge for their love and care for our dad. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd, where visitation will take place on Wednesday August. 28, 2019 from 7-9pm.
