Jim Passed away on Monday August 19, at Juravinski Hospital at the age of 86. It is a blessing to know he is at peace. Loving husband of Marina for almost 60 years (October 17). He will be deeply missed by daughter Sheila Hagen (Gord), and son Cameron (Kathy and J.C.)
We all share many happy memories of Papa with his grandchildren Gavin, Dylan, Kade, & Graham. Jim is survived by his brother Don Riley (Deb), and sister Muriel Pretty (late Eric). Although both deceased he was a special brother-in-law to Margaret and Alfonso Alfano. Uncle Jim had many loving nieces and nephews, and a great niece Kahlea.
He was a maintenance electrician, working on overhead cranes for Provincial Engineering, Overhead Crane Service, Bridge and Tank, and Taylor Steel. Happiest of times were spent at the cottage at Pike Bay. He was remembered for his wit, and beautiful smile. He loved playing and watching sports, especially the Maple Leafs, and Blue Jays. He enjoyed working with wood, and “playing” with his trains, even making dill pickles, and (of course) chatting with the neighbours; but mostly time spent with family and friends.
For the past six months Jim received wonderful and compassionate care at Extendicare Long Term Care. Special thanks to Dr. Patel, Dr. Namburi and all who cared for him.
Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Saturday from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm with special memories shared at 3pm. Cremation has taken place.
