Jack DeHaan
DeHaan, Jacob “Jack” – Parkland Estates, Truro, passed away on August 24, 2019 at the age of 93 years. Born in Holland, he was the son of the late Klaas and Gertrude (Berkenbosch). Jack immigrated to Nova Scotia in 1951 with his bride, Ann (Walstra). They owned and operated a successful dairy farm retiring at a young age in 1980. Retirement was spent enjoying winters in Florida, camping, travelling, boating, fishing, walking, woodworking and playing cards with family and friends. Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kyla Michelle and his step-grandson, Terry (Atkinson). He will be sadly missed by his wife of 68 years, Ann; his three children, Ron (Toni-Lynn Thompson), Ed and Debi (Butch Atkinson). “Opa” will also be missed by his four grandchildren, Jake (Mindy Kohar), Jessica (Justin Grant), Chandra (Doug Jamer) and Kelly (Steve MacLeod); his step-granddaughter, Kim Atkinson and his seven great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations may be made to Friends of Old Wentworth Valley Schoolhouse.
