Jack’s Obituary
SYMONDS, Jack Wesley – 84, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 6, in Roseway Hospital, Shelburne, with his family by his side. Born in Clark’s Harbour, April 27, 1935, to the late Bradford Sr. and Olive (Smith) Symonds. Jack leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Agnes (Nickerson) Symonds; son, Ricky (Debbie); daughter, Kim (Joey); son-in-law, Steven Crowell; sister-in-law, Gayle Symonds; grandchildren, Kimberly, Daniel (Erica), Robin, Joseph (Emily), Chris (Meredith), Shala (Donavon); great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Hailey, Darious, Nijah, Laveah, Denver, Damien, Declan, and Cole. He also leaves behind his loving brothers, Bradford Jr. (Jane), Dana; his sister, Lorraine (Cecil) that he adored so much; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Herbert, Darrell; an infant brother and sister; daughter, Darlene; and granddaughter, Martina. Jack loved talking about his childhood, playing cards, camping in the past, when it came to him going to Seal Island he was like a little kid in a candy store even if was just a day trip and family get-togethers. He was in the army for several years stationed in Petawawa, Ontario, Germany (where Darlene was born), Picton, Ontario, and Gagetown, New Brunswick. He served with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #148, Clark’s Harbour, for 53 years. He returned home in 1969 to work in the fishing industry and in February of 1992 he and his wife took over the Clark’s Harbour bowling alley where they later sold it in November of 2003. There will be a visitation held Friday, 7-9 p.m., at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, where the funeral will follow on Saturday, August 10, at 2 p.m. with Ron Clark officiating. It has been requested there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the IWK, Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund, Seal Island Church, or a charity of choice.
