Hugh Lawrence
Hugh Lawrence, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Buffalo Lake, AB, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Grande Prairie Care Centre, at the age of 95 years.
Hugh was born March 1, 1924 on a farm in Buffalo Lake where he grew up. He attended Chatham school to grade 8. On September 14, 1950, Hugh married Florence Lee and they were blessed with three sons: Gary (1951), Fred (1953), and Brian (1956).
Hugh worked at Northern Electric, delivered fuel for B.A., and drove cat for Ray Lee Construction. He was a lifetime farmer with a great love for animals and family. He also enjoyed welding and fabricating.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 68 years Florence; children: Gary (Deb), Fred (Janice), and Brian; grandchildren: Corey, Laura (Andrew Amos), Alanna, Lisa (Scott Ellis), and Koren; great-grandchildren: Jade, McKenna, Alissa, Taylor, and Keely; sisters Fern Erickson and Yvonne Dubord; brothers Jim Lawrence and Bill (Lorraine) Lawrence; niece Joyce Rossiter; nephew Eric Lee; as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Hugh was predeceased by his grandson Tyrel; sisters Bernice and Edna; brothers in-law Eric, Cecil, Mark, and Carl; sister in-law Carly Anne, and brother in-law Raymond Lee.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 10, at 2:00pm, at smith Civic Centre (9917 99 Ave.).
Memorial donations may be made to Kev’s Kids (200, 9835-101 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 5V4), Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association (9920 91 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 0G3), or to a charity of one’s choice.
