It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother on, Sunday, August 4, 2019. Gertrude Parsons (nee Chafe), passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness; may she find the everlasting peace she deserves and continue to watch over us. She is predeceased by her husband, Patrick Parsons (2007); great-great-grandson, Ryan Nicholas Stoyles Hicks (2007); parents, Lawrence and Margaret Chafe and parents-in-law, Richard and Catherine Parsons as well as other deceased members of the Chafe and Parson’s families. Left with fond and loving memories are her children, Theresa (Aiden – deceased) Heffernan, Bernadette (Garry) Connors, Patrick Parsons (Christine), Catherine (Darryl) Manning, Richard (Joanne) Parsons, Margaret (Gerald) Stoyles, Michelle (Kenny) McGrath and Madonna O’Rielly; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Also, her sisters, Marion Cox and Rose (William) Stephenson; brother-in-law, Brennie Clarke; sisters-in-law, Bernadine Chafe and Minnie Chafe and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. For the past several years Mom lived at North Pond Manor and while some would call her a resident, she considered it her home. It is hard to articulate in writing how blessed we are and how much we appreciate all that you have done to help ease Mom’s suffering. It is difficult to thank each of you individually for the significant roll you played in Mom’s journey; please know how thankful we are. We would like to say a special thank you to the manager of North Pond Manor, Lolly Noseworthy and Recreational Director, Paula Burke for making it possible to share this last piece of the journey with you, her extended family. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Alexa Laurie for her care and compassion throughout her illness and her attention over the last few days and to nurse, Mary Higgins for going above and beyond. We appreciate the love, support and compassion you provided to Mom and her family during this difficult time, more than we can say. Countless times you have gone over and above to help ease Mom’s suffering; she was loved and treated like she was your mother and in turn, loved you as her children. “God Bless” you all. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay. Visitation on Monday from 2-9pm and Tuesday from 11am-9pm. Funeral Mass will take place at 10am on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from St. Michael’s Church in Flatrock with interment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery. No flowers by request, donation in Gertrude’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gertrude Theresa Parsons 2019..
