Gerald Chisholm
1957-2019
Gerald Alexander Chisholm, passed away in his home in New
Glasgow last week at the age of 62. Born in Trenton, Gerald showed an
early interest in hockey, playing as goalie for several years. He
worked pouring steel at Trenton Works and started his own TV and VCR
repair business. He put his career on hold to raise his two children
full-time. Moving to Dartmouth early in their lives, he worked as a
security officer, rising to the position of security supervisor at
Halifax Shipyard. In his retirement, he quickly returned to live in
New Glasgow, which he considered home. Gerald was hardworking, always
doing home renos and building in his workshop. He will be dearly
missed. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Mary (nee Ross)
Chisholm, and his brother, John “Buddy” Chisholm. He is
survived by his sisters, Joan Dickson and Eileen (Lawrence) Foote;
brother, Henry (Shannon) Toner; his son, John Ross Chisholm, and
daughter, Christine (Taylor) McKay; and cat, Dexter. Service will be
held at Lorne Street Cemetery on Monday, August 19 at 1pm. All are
welcome to pay their respects. Donations can be made to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation in Gerald’s memory. Arrangements are under the
direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New
Glasgow.
