Gary John Albo
1945 – 2019
Our Champion – our Husband – our Father – our Grandfather.
Gary John Albo was a fearless warrior, always overcoming what the world threw at him. He constantly succeeded and amazed all those around him by exceeding expectations. This was definitely true with his 20-year battle with cancer. This fight continued to the last minute, until on August 22, 2019 he passed away peacefully with Family at his side.
Gary was the first son in a family of five children of Paul and Gudrun (Goodie) Albo. Born in Winnipeg on January 23, 1945, growing up in St. Charles, and then moving to Transcona for his High School years.
It was in Transcona that he met his friend for life, Sharon Albo (nee Patterson), his wife of 52 years. The two of them moved around frequently – with stops in Windsor Park, Saskatoon, St. Charles and Mississauga. They finally settled in Fort Richmond raising their loving children – Bryan (Kirsten) and Kristin (Rob).
Gary was always supporting his children’s activities – especially passing on his love of sports. He was an accomplished football and lacrosse high school star. The list did not end there – including racquetball, pickleball, golf, and etc. His love was in coaching his son in hockey, and his daughter in ringette.
Gary’s true love was in his grandchildren – Justin (Emily), Brendan, Grayson and Avery. His love and support for them was second to no one!! He supported them watching sports games, attending concerts, always picking them up and passing on his wisdom and encouragement.
Gary and Sharon found a second home in Mesa AZ at Venture Out. Many winters were spent down south with their new friends. Both Bryan and Kristin’s families enjoyed great vacations visiting Grandpa and Grandma. Grandpa was up for every activity his grandchildren challenged him with.
He truly was the Albo’s Champion and Hero!!
