Fletcher Ackman Ward – age 84, of Coldbrook, passed away
peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 17, 2019 in
the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Coldbrook on June 9,
1935, he was a son of the late Ackman and Evelyn (Illsley) Ward.
Fletcher dreamt of being a farmer and was fortunate to be able to live
his dream as a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed spending time with family,
especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Marion
(LeBlanc); four children, Kathy (Tony) Hawkins, Dartmouth; Robert
(Wendy), London, ON; Sharon Ward, Coldbrook; Matthew (Amy), Coldbrook;
sister, Charlotte (John) Legge, Centreville; sister-in-law, Seretha
Willett, Cambridge; seven grandchildren, Jack and Troy Hawkins; Haley
and Claire Ward; Mitchell and Laura Baxter and Rylen Ward; many nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, Paul; three sisters,
Manetta Brown; Mabel McCamon; Rose, in childhood and a brother, Avery.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8
p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville where the funeral service and reception will be
held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2019, Father John
MacPherson officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy
Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to
Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or to a charity of choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
