McKINNEY, Eileen
It is with heavy heart and true sorrow that I announce the passing of my beloved wife Eileen McKinney on Saturday, August 10, 2019. She courageously battled the consequences of a stroke.
Born in Malo, County Cork, Ireland, on July 14, 1929 to John and Agnes Galvin. Graduated as a Registered Nurse in England. Eileen arrived in Canada April 26, 1957. An independent and private lady, devout Catholic, with free and strong spirit in her ideas and beliefs. Eileen worked for many years as a Registered nurse at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, she volunteered for the Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in Cambridge Marian Residence. Also she served as the President of the Legion of Mary. Pre-deceased by her parents and siblings, Gerard, Declan, Maura and Son-in-law Werner.
Loving mother of Annette, James, (Antigone), Maureen (Allan), and cherished Grandmother of Erik, Patrick, Terence, Eileen, Brigitte and family, Tyrone and family. She is survived by her sister Annette (Dennis Marshall), and their loving children Robert, John, Catherine and also her brother Kevin (Mary) and will be missed by her nieces and nephews. Also loving Great Grandmother to all 10 of her Great Grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday August 13th, at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Vigil Prayers at 8:45 pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, August 14th, at St. Mary Of The Visitation Parish, 16 Cooper Street, Cambridge at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at New Hope Cemetery.
