Effie’s Obituary
Effie Emma Parrell (Lawes) was born on August 6, 1921 at her grandmother’s two room house (which later became a chicken coop) north of Viking to her parents Len and Verna Lawes. This was the time of open country, no fences and an abundance of wildlife and berries.
Effie went to a one room school house about 6 miles from her home then to Viking School and Victoria Composite High School in Edmonton.
Effie married Edward Parrell (Spike) on April 14, 1942. Their daughter Sue-Anne was born while Eddy was overseas fighting for our freedom during WW11 and Gail their second daughter was born in Watson, Saskatchewan.
They made their first home in Jasper Place later moving into a new house in Edmonton where Effie lived for 50 years before moving into Copper Sky care home in Spruce Grove.
Effie worked at various jobs before going to work for Telus where she stayed for 20 years until her retirement.
Effie was kind, generous and had a vibrant personality, always smiling and always up to a challenge. She loved her family deeply including many nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. She will be missed by all.
Effie was a great lover of animals and on that note the family is requesting any donations, please be made to the Human Society or wildlife funds which was many of the charities she supported.
There will be a Celebration of life held at Golden Valley Lutheran Church in Viking, Alberta on August 17, 2019 at 1:00 P.M..
