Obituary of Dorothy Smith
With a sense of appreciation for a life well lived, the family of Dorothy Esther Smith, wife to the late C. Roy Smith, announces her passing which occurred on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on August 1, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Percy and Margaret (Shand) Haslam and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Dorothy was a school teacher for 33 years. She was an avid reader and had outstanding knowledge of the Royal Family and their history. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and going to her camp in Belleisle Creek, but above all, loved the time spent with family.
Dorothy will be missed by her children: Charles (Yvonne) Smith and Ian Smith (Colleen McGuire), her grandchildren: Jennifer (Matthew) Cooper and Maxwell Smith (Emily Marsh), and her great grandchildren: Oliver and Charlotte Cooper.
Besides her parents, and husband Roy, Dorothy was predeceased by her infant son Roger and her sister Constance England.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation and a reception will take place on Monday, August 5, 2019 from 12:00 – 1:45. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the SPCA-Animal Rescue or the Saint John Free Public Library and online condolences can be placed at www.brenansfh.com
