It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Fedele DeMeo on July 29, 2019, 10 days shy of his 88th Birthday.
Fedele was born in Santo Stefano del Sole, Italy to Pietro and Domenica. He was raised in a lovely family of six children and is survived by his sister Tomasina of Italy. Fedele married his love, Emilia in May of 1960 and soon after they immigrated to Canada, settling in Nelson for the remainder of his life.Fedele will be lovingly remembered by his wife Emilia of 59 years, daughter Rosetta (Scott) Payne, daughter in-law Karen DeMeo, and was very proud of his four beautiful grandsons- Jordan Payne, Adam Payne, Marcus DeMeo and Dillon DeMeo. Fedele was sadly predeceased by his son Dominic in December 2010.
Fedele was known for being an extremely passionate person for whatever activities he participated in. He had a long and fulfilling career of 31 years at the CPR. Fedele enjoyed chatting, with the many friends and family members who would stop by for a glass of home-made wine, a tour of the garden, ending with a lively conversation around current world events.Fedele was an amazing gardener. Local restaurants would often call him to provide them with fresh herbs and vegetables. When Fedele was not in his garden, he could be found fishing at many of the lakes around Nelson.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the Church of Mary Immaculate, Saturday August 3rd,2019 at 10:30 with entombment to follow.
He will be greatly missed by the many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours that has graced his life throughout the years.
In leu of flowers the family has requested donation be made to the Heart and Lung Association of BC.
