HILLS, Dale
It is with sadness the family of Dale Hills, announce his passing on August 27, 2019 at the age of 75 surrounded by his immediate family. Dale is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 52 years Grace Hills (née Misskey); son Chad (Paula) and granddaughters Randa, Cora; son Brent (Karen) and grandchildren Kami, Addison; daughter Darla (Greg) Erickson and grandsons Dallen, Trey & Bryton; his aunt Frances (Stan) Padget; uncle Eldon (Nora) Taylor; brother-in-law Ron (Gloria) Misskey; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Dale was predeceased by his parents David and Hazel Hills; his in-laws George and Olga Misskey; grandmother Olive Taylor; uncle Jerry Taylor; and brother-in-law Ray Misskey. Dale grew up in Kinistino where his parents farmed nearby. Upon completing high school, he left to work in the grocery business beginning work in Melfort, it was there where Dad met the love of his life, Grace and the two were married in July 1967. Together they seized new business opportunities that took them to Regina, Biggar and Nipawin where Dale started up his own grocery store. In 1975, Dale and Grace moved to Saskatoon to raise their family where he worked at Codville Company as Head Food Service Buyer. Later in semi-retirement he worked at the U of S supervising the grounds crew. Dale was always involved in the sporting world whether as a player, coach or just cheering on his grandchildren. He was always quick with a smile and would start up a conversation with everyone. Dale loved nothing more than spending time with family during our Sunday suppers, holidaying together and sharing his love with the family dogs. A huge thank you for all the special care given to Dale by doctors, nurses, care-aides and the home palliative care program. A Celebration of Dale’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at McClure United Church (4025 Taylor St. E.) in Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation directed to the Palliative Home Care Unit (1702 20th Street West, Saskatoon SK S7M 0Z9, www.stpaulshospital.org) – look for the SPH foundation tab.
