Obituary of Barry Montgomery Patterson
Sadly our family announces the passing of Barry on August 19that Northland Pointe in his 85thyear. Devoted husband and best friend for over 61 years to Sonja (nee Kozar). Loving father of Christopher (Joanne) and proud poppa of Jamie and Meagan. Happy poppa of his grand dogs Molly and Colby. Loving brother of Dan Patterson (Rita Reed), brother in-law of Sandy Kozar (Karen), Dan Kozar (Diane) and Terry Kozar. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Daniel and Flossie Patterson and by his sister in-law Maureen Fox. Barry retired at age 55 from Union Carbide after 35 years of service. He enjoyed many golf games throughout his life followed by his afternoon nap and also enjoyed many trips. Barry was a long time member of the Port Colborne Country Club and a member of the Canadian Senior Golf Association. In 1999, he co-founded the Senior Ryder Cup with only 4 golf clubs in the Niagara Peninsula, and now today there are over 100 golf clubs involved. A very special thank you to the staff at Northland Pointe who always treated him like family.
Barry’s family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence St., Port Colborne, on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 2 – 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Northland Pointe.
