Annetta Emma
Rushton – 76,
Kemptown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on
Monday morning, August 9, 2019, at Debert Court, Debert. Born in
Truro, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Clarissa (Tutty)
Johnstone.
Annetta worked for many years for Agricultural Employment and
had also made 1000s of wreaths and garlands over the years, which many
people have had the pleasure of displaying and admiring. She and Alton
were always traveling the roads, exploring new places and backwoods
shortcuts, and spending time with Jessica and Hailey, who were their
pride and joy.
Annetta is survived by her children, Brad (Marilyn) Rushton,
Fort Ellis; Alton Jr. (Michelle Veno), Kemptown; Annette (John) Bray,
Truro; grandchildren, Jessica, Haley, Jamie, Laura; great
grandchildren, Ella and Emmett; sisters, Ardith (Dale) Lambourne,
Masstown; Joyce (Neil) Reid, Pictou; Marjorie Murray, Bible Hill;
Janet Johnstone (Wayne MacMeekin), Truro; brothers, David (Carol)
Johnstone, Salmon River; Billy Johnstone, Bible Hill; many nieces,
nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Along with her parents, she
was predeceased by her husband, Alton Leo Rushton; sisters, Pearl
Johnstone, Betty Johnstone; brother, Robert Lee Johnstone in infancy;
brother-in-law, Irving Murray; niece, Kimberley Reid; great nephew,
Joseph MacKenzie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Annetta’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2019,
and funeral service 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2019. Reception will
follow. Interment in Kemptown United Church Cemetery. If so desired,
donations in Annetta’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova
